A Message from Pastor Bob Rhoads

Bob is the pastor of the Deaf community in Fredericksburg and beyond. Bob was born Deaf in Lancaster, PA where he grew up in a Christian home.  He came to Christ at the age of 9.  Bob was mainstreamed with the deaf program through Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Lancaster County but transferred to Model Secondary School for the Deaf and graduated.

When Bob attended East Carolina University in NC, he got involved with Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU).  It was there that Bob grew in the Lord and was trained in evangelism and discipleship. After graduating with a BS degree in Therapeutic Recreation, he joined staff with CRU to launch the first Deaf campus ministry at Gallaudet University. After 15 years in Washington DC, Bob transitioned to join staff with Youth for Christ ministering to the Deaf high school students at Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, MD for 8 years.  During that process, Bob accepted God’s call to be a pastor for the Deaf Congregation in Alexandria, VA.

Bob developed a heart to help reach the Deaf and to train them in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ. With our Lord God and Spotswood’s support as a church planter, Bob is launching a Deaf church. There are very few Deaf Churches across our nation. Time is short to reach out to the Deaf communities. Only 2% knew Christ personally.

Bob is married to a beautiful Deaf woman named Karen for over 30 years. Together, they have 5 children who are fluent in American Sign Language and 5 grandchildren who are learning to sign.

Come recharge during the week as we meet for Bible study, prayer, and community in ASL.

Our midweek gathering is a relaxed time to grow deeper in God’s Word and encourage one another. We meet both in-person for the local and ZOOM for those living farther from FXBG.

No Voice interpretation.

Please email Pastor Bob for the ZOOM link.

Prayer Gatherings

First Friday
of each month

6P | Host home by email

Join us for fellowship with a light meal at a host home as we come together for a special time of prayer in ASL.
This gathering is dedicated to lifting up one another, our community, and the world before the Lord.

If you are interested to host a prayer gathering, email Pastor Bob.  Both Deaf and Hearing, even if you don’t know ASL, can host.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet some Deaf people.

Koinonia Sunday

Third Sundays
of each month

12:30P | College Building

Join us on every third Sunday at 12:30pm for a time of fellowship and covered dishes together. This is the time to connect and build relationships.  Many Deaf people live pretty far from each other  and we need time to connect in our heart language.  Hearing believers are welcome to join if you know   some sign language.
