| Sunday February 19, 1956 | Spotswood Baptist Church was formed. They were led by Rev. Maurice Timberlake. Their first meetings were held at the Moose Lodge off Lafayette Blvd., in Fredericksburg. | | | Christmas 1958 | The first building was completed. Membership grew to 295 members with 424 in Sunday School. |  | | May 1973 | New sanctuary was completed with a capacity for 600 people. |  | | August 4, 1978 | Rev. Bob R. Melvin, began his ministry at Spotswood. | | June 1988 | Current sanctuary was dedicated to the Glory of God. Auditorium was built to seat 1,500 people. | | | 1994 | Growth results in Spotswood expanding to two Sunday School hours. | | | 1995 | Again, growth forces Spotswood's Sunday School hours to expand, this time to three hours. Also, we added a second worship service. | | | 1998 | Three mobile units were brought on site to create more space. | | | 2002 | The addition of the Children's Educational Building is finished. |  | | 2005 | Current membership is approximately 5,000. | |
