Counting Our Blessings
Friday, 25 July 2008
It is hard to believe how fast our time here has passed. It is now 5:30 Friday afternoon, our mission time here is coming to an end. We are busy dismantling the medical clinic that has served us so well for the last five days. The numbers are just now being tabulated to assess how much our labor, with the Lord's help, has accomplished in this past week.

The totals we have at this time are :

Clinic Totals: 1379

Commitments to Christ :  254

Medical: 291

Gyn: 123

Optical: 504    Eye Glasses Provided : 510

Dental Cleaning: 140

Fillings/Extractions: 321

"Suffer little children....." Matt. 19:14
Thursday, 24 July 2008
It is 10 o'clock Thursday morning, and the press of the crowd is already causing unrest in the waiting lines. Many are being turned away at the end of each day because we cannot meet their needs for medical services. We hear stories of many people who have walked up to five miles each day to get here and still they have not been treated. Their needs are so great and we are so few.

These are the very poor people who are not able to pay for their own medical treatment. There are free services available to them, but there is over a year's waiting period or more.

So many that we see are children:

Working as a team.
Dr. Matt Williamson's Dental Team puts in long hours in a make shift clinic, with over ninety degree temperatures. Dr. Matt and his team are seeing an average of sixty patients a day to date.

Dr. Bill Griffin prepares a young dental patient.

Many that come are young. The numbers continue to increase each day.

Other team members volunteer to keep instruments clean and sterile. Others see that the dental  supplies keep coming.

News Talk 93.FM broadcasts live from clinic grounds.
This morning, when we arrived at the church around 7:30 AM, a block-long line of people had already formed in front of the church. The church yard was filled to capacity, and the gates had to be closed until more room became available. After people register for services, they are sent to a waiting area inside the church, which holds several hundred.
From this holding area, patients are directed to their designated clinic areas. As they exit the church, Spiritual Counseling is offered. Vacation Bible School is held twice a day in the open yard area. We are told, many traveled long distances today to be here. Each day we expect the numbers to multiply as the word continues to spread throughout the city.

Kencot Christian Fellowship
Tuesday, 22 July 2008
Pastor Errol Bolt and his Kencot Christian Fellowship welcomed your Jamaica Medical Mission Team with open arms during Sunday morning's worship service. Then, immediately after services, we began the transformation of this large Kingston church into a modern medical clinic that will provide dental, medical, nutritional, pharmaceutical, pediatric, gynecologic and optical services, all free of charge.
Spiritual Counseling and Vacation Bible School are also provided each day.

In order to help control the demand, we scheduled Monday as church members only day. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we will be open to the general public. Friday, we will also be open to the general public, but the local police and emergency personnel are invited as well.

Jamaican Parliament's Dr. Peter D. Phillips and Pastor Errol Bolt check out new clinic's facilities on Monday.

Well, it finally stopped raining. It is Sunday morning and we are waiting to board the vans to take us to church. But, today church started early. Actually, it happened right here in the parking lot of our apartments!
